Most of our faculty members appreciate receiving confirmation that their announcements have been posted, but that is not the default setting in Canvas. If you would like to receive an email notification when you post your announcements, follow the instructions below. Update your notification settings
An announcement is generally the best way to send a message to all your students from Canvas. When you post an announcement, it will be available in the Canvas site (from the Announcements tool) and an email notification will be sent to all students. NOTES: Create a new announcement

The easiest and most useful way to share your class syllabus with your students is to use the Canvas Syllabus tool, providing both a link to the document (for downloading and printing) and an “automatic preview” so the students can see the text on the fly.
