The role of Instructional Design & Technology (IDT) at Rutgers University–Camden is to support faculty in all pedagogical endeavors. We specialize in course design and redesign and the appropriate use of technology to support teaching and learning goals. We assist all instructors with research-driven (or experimental!) pedagogical projects to improve, strengthen, and invigorate the experience of learning and teaching at Rutgers University–Camden.

Carly Hart

As Director of Instructional Design & Technology at Rutgers-Camden, Carly Hart is passionate about collaborating with faculty to create engaging, innovative learning experiences. She joined the IDT team in 2016 and is a dedicated member of the Rutgers-Camden community, striving to foster excellence in teaching and learning. In addition to her instructional design expertise she has over a 10 years experience teaching both in-person and online courses, and regularly teaches as an adjunct lecturer at Rutgers-Camden. Her academic history includes a BA in Spanish and Secondary Education from Muhlenberg College, a MA in Spanish from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, as well as graduate studies in Instructional Design from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Carly continues to advance her expertise in education as a doctoral student in the Rutgers Ed.D. program with a concentration in Design of Learning Environments.
Mary Jane

Meet Mary Jane, an instructional design and technology specialist with proven course development and instructional design experience in higher education settings, including community college and comprehensive university settings. With a rich background in education, she has worked with learners of all ages and backgrounds, from preschool to adults. Beginning her career as a nutritional educator for adults, Mary Jane transitioned into public education. Certified as a Family and Consumer Science and Pre-K – 3 teacher, she has nine years of public school teaching experience. Mary Jane is also an adjunct instructor, teaching an undergraduate course on sustainable fashion she designed in an online asynchronous format for Stockton and as a face-to-face seminar course for the Honors College at Rutgers–Camden.
Mary Jane’s educational journey reflects her multidisciplinary approach. She holds an MA in Instructional Technology from Stockton University, a BS in Applied Nutrition from Penn State, a BS in Textile Development and Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and an AAS in Fashion Design from Rowan College at Burlington County. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate in education pursing a concentration in the design of learning environments at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.

Kellen brings an enthusiastic commitment to education and community learning to her role as Instructional Design and Technology Specialist. With a B.A. in English and a master’s degree in Adult and Organizational Development, Kellen possesses a strong foundation in communication with expertise in adult learning theory and instructional strategy.
Throughout her career, Kellen has worked across a range of educational settings—from tutoring adult, elementary, and middle school learners and teaching high school equivalency and workforce development courses to facilitating faculty training, college-level and community-based classes. Her passion lies in creating welcoming and active learning environments that encourage curiosity, reflection, and growth for learners and educators alike.
In her current role, Kellen collaborates with faculty to design meaningful, student-centered learning experiences that are grounded in sound pedagogy and supported by thoughtful use of technology.
