Adding documents, website links, or links to videos/images
You can add links to documents, other websites, or images/videos (if you do not want them embedded directly into the Sakai site). Students will be able to download the files or access other websites from these links. While in your Lessons page on your Sakai site:
- Click the “Add Content” drop-down menu in the top left corner of the screen
- Click “Add Content Link”
- If uploading a file from your computer: click “Browse,” then choose the file from your computer OR
- If inserting a link to a webpage: type/paste the URL into “Add a URL” area
- Click the “Save” button when you are finished.
Note that you can edit the name of the file after it is inserted. Click on the small “Edit” button to the left of the file after you have inserted it into the Sakai Lessons page. It will bring up a window in which you can alter the Item Name. It’s recommended you leave the file extension (such as .doc, .pdf, .xls) there, however, so students will know what type of file they are downloading. Click the “Update Item” button after you have changed the file name.
