Sakai for students: upload document to Resources
In some Sakai sites, your instructor may create a special folder to which students can add content. If so, you will see an "Add..." dropdown menu to the right of the folder. Some instructors will use this tool to share student work among classmates. If you need to upload a document to such a folder:
- Before uploading a document, you must first create it in another program (such as Word or Excel) and save it to your computer (hard drive, flash drive, floppy disk, etc.)
- Log into Sakai with your Rutgers NetID and password at http://sakai.rutgers.edu
- Click on the tab for your course
- Click the Resources tool in the left-hand margin
- Find the special student folder with the "Add" menu to its right
- To the right of the folder, click the "Add" drop-down menu and select "Upload files"
- Click the Browse button to navigate through your computer until you locate the appropriate file for upload
- The Display Name field will automatically fill with the file name, but you can change that. This is the link your instructor and other students will see
- Click "Upload Files Now"
- You will be returned to the Resources list, with your new file showing, indented under its parent folder. Other students can open your file, but only you (or the instructor) can delete from Sakai.
- Be sure to log off when you're done with Sakai
