Sakai for students: using the Dropbox
In some Sakai sites, your instructor may include the Dropbox tool. This gives each student a private folder from which to share documents with the instructor only (no other students can see your dropbox). You can upload documents to your Dropbox folder, the instructor can view them, the instructor can upload documents into your Dropbox folder, and you can see those. If you'd like to upload a document for your instructor:
- Before uploading a document, you must first create it in another program (such as Word or Excel) and save it to your computer (hard drive, flash drive, floppy disk, etc.)
- Log into Sakai with your Rutgers NetID and password at http://sakai.rutgers.edu
- Click on the tab for your course
- Click the Dropbox tool in the left-hand margin
- Click the "Add" drop-down menu to the right of your folder and select "Upload files"
- Click the Browse button to navigate through your computer until you locate the appropriate file for upload
- The Display Name field will automatically fill with the file name, but you can change that. This is the link your instructor will see
- Click "Upload Files Now"

- You will be returned to the Dropbox with your new file showing in the folder.
- Be sure to log off when you're done with Sakai
