Schedule: Allow students to add events

Generally the Schedule tool is set up so that only the instructor can add or edit events. Occasionally, you may wish to give students permission to add items to the calendar (e.g., so they can sign up for presentation slots).

  1. log into Sakai and click on the tab for your course
  2. choose Schedule from the left-hand menu (if Schedule is not on your menu, you must add it with "Edit Tools")
  3. click the Permissions button
  4. you will be shown a screen that has the calendar’s current permissions
  5. you need to check the boxes for "Student" for "new," "delete.own," and "revise own," like this:

  1. this permission set means that students can create new schedule events and delete or edit only those events that they have created.
  2. Click "Save" and then send your students an announcement laying out the guidelines for editing the course site schedule.
