Create a quiz question with image
THIS DOCUMENT IS IN DRAFT FORM
Sometimes you may wish to create a test question that contains an image within the text (as opposed to an attachment, which is also possible). As of this writing (12/07), the procedure for inserting images is disappointingly awkward, but should improve soon.
The general process is to upload your image files to Sakai Resources, then copy each URL (web address) from the image's location in Sakai to paste into the question editor. Here are the steps:
Import images to Sakai Resources tool
- Log into Sakai
- Choose your course tab
- Click "Resources" in the left-hand toolbar
Create folder for images
- To the right of the top-level Resources folder, click "Add"
- In the Add Item Type box, select "Empty Folder"
- Type in the title, "Protected" (this is a special folder name that will hide the contents from students), scroll down and click "Add"
Upload image files
- From the Resources tool, find your new "Protected" folder and click "Add" at its right
- In the Add Item Type box, select "File Upload" (note: for more than a handful of image files, you may prefer to use the "Upload-Download Multiple Resources" link)
- Click the browse button to locate the image file on your computer and click "Open"
- Scroll down and click "Add"
Attach image to quiz question
- First, you must collect the URLs of the images stored in Resources/Protected; do this by clicking the "revise" link to the right of the image name in Resource, then scrolling down to the URL link near the bottom of the page
- Highlight and copy the URL of the image
- Click "Tests & Quizzes" in the left-hand toolbar
- Create new question (or edit existing)
- Click "Show/Hide Rich-Text Editor"
- Write text as needed, then click the "Insert/Edit Image" button
- IMPORTANT: the "browse" feature does not work currently; you must instead paste the Sakai URL for the image into the URL box and click "OK."
- Continue editing question as usual
