Sakai: add Resources
- choose Resources from the left-hand menu
- you'll see at least one folder (the "top-level" folder is called Resources)
- to the right of the folder into which you'd like to add content, click the "Add" link
- select the type of content you'd like to add--generally this will be either:
- a file upload - for any kind of document you can upload, like a .doc, .pdf, .ppt, etc.
- an empty folder - to add an organizing structure; e.g., a folder called "Lectures" for all your PowerPoint presentations or a folder called "Useful Links"
- a web address (URL)
- the info you provide will depend on the choice you made above
File Upload
- select a number of files to upload now (1-10)
- "Choose a file" - click the Browse button to navigate through your computer until you locate the appropriate file for upload
- The Title field will automatically fill with the file name, but you can change that. This is the link your students will see (note that it is often useful to keep the file extension--.doc, .pdf, etc.--, so your students will understand what kind of file they're opening)
- You can fill in the Description field if you like, but students will not see that info unless they click on an "info" link about the file. You can choose to leave Description blank.
- Select the copyright status to the best of your knowledge; add the copyright alert if you want students to acknowledge it.
- By default, Availability for all uploaded files will be "Show," but you may choose to hide your new Resource or limit its availability by date. (Leave Availability as Show if you just want the file available to students without restriction.)
- Access should be set to "Display to site" in most cases.
- Click Add and you will be returned to the Resources list, with your new file showing.
