Sakai: releasing final course grades in Gradebook

Display course grades screenshotBy default, the Gradebook tool in Sakai is configured to show calculated course grades to only the instructor. If you want your students to see their course grade, at any point in the semester, you can:

  1. Click on Gradebook in the left-hand menu
  2. Click the button “Course Grade Options” along the top
  3. Check the box “Display course grades to students now”
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save button

Remember that Sakai can only calculate correct course grades if you have set up the Gradebook properly to reflect your grading scheme.

Also, remember that missing item scores (eg, if a student skips a quiz or fails to upload an assignment) will NOT negatively affect a calculated course grade unless they have been changed to zeroes. This can result in students who miss assignments receiving higher grades than students who do all the work!
